Specialisation Day: Option 1

“Creative thinking and problem solving: how to think through problems and save the world”

About John

John Delacruz is a tenure-track professor on the Advertising Program at SJSU and an instructor at Miami Ad School in San Francisco. He is responsible for the creative track at SJSU and developing links between industry and education as well as developing collaborative projects for students nationally and internationally. Primarily concerned with experiential learning, mentoring and ethics in the creative disciplines, John sometimes champions the use of technology as a way to enhance and add value to the student experience. Since the beginning of 2013, he has explored how NextGen technologies can open a window on the world outside of California for his students. Innovative and creative forms of engagement inspire John’s classes.  Creative and strategic thinking, ideas generation and pushing the boundaries of traditional communications form the backbone of his curricula where students solve real-world problems in ways that enhance their employability in an ever competitive advertising world. Integrated solutions, advertising for good, user experience and engagement are key areas of interest that drive the tasks he sets his students.

Originally a graphic artist with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Printmaking) he later went on to teach Art and Design at High School level whilst continuing to work as a freelance graphic artist. He later gained a BA (Hons) in Design History and an MA in History of Art and Design before following a full-time career in Higher Education. Photography is currently at the heart of his creative practice. A Stand-Up Paddleboarder, he is a big fan of the ocean, the outdoors, the trail, alt-music, good books and craft beers. Happiness is paddling into Monterey Bay with only the pelicans, otters, seals and dolphins for company.

Siobhan Stanley, Inside Out Coaching, UK

"Connecting your content to your audience"

About Siobhan
One thing Siobhan has in common with Madonna, and there is only one thing... insatiable reinvention.  Prior to her work as a Coach Siobhan enjoyed a long and successful career as a performing artist.  She was professionally engaged as a Soloist with The Royal Ballet and Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet. Then followed a ‘proper job’. Siobhan moved into advertising and worked with Saatchi & Saatchi for many years in a variety of roles within both the UK and EMEA network. It was during her time with Saatchi that Siobhan was invited to share her insights and knowledge of performing and communication.  Before long she established a position within Saatchi as a coach and trainer. Building on this and responding to a growing word-of-mouth demand, Siobhan established her own business and today is Founder and Director of Inside Out Coaching Ltd. She also enjoys a diverse body of private 1:1 clients including barristers,  small business holders,  CEO’s,  MD’s, dancers and artists, all keeping her on her toes but happily now without the pain of point shoes!
 About this workshop
We have all been there: feeling nervous before a big presentation, dreading an important face to face meeting or wanting to run away from a big pitch. Siobhan will help you conquer your fears in this hands-on workshop! You'll never feel the same before presenting again.
